Mrs. Shaw was wife of Henry Shaw, U.S. Congressman from Massachusetts 1817-21. Brigg's son Henry Shaw Briggs, was named after him. (He was a Brig. General in U.S. Civil War). The relationship between these people including a memoir referencing this presentation copy from Mrs. Shaw is in "Great in Goodness: A Memoir of George N. Briggs" by William C.
