This volume was a presentation from Mrs. Henry Shaw to Massachusetts Governor George Nixon Briggs. It was presented to him in 1816. Governor Briggs ink signature is on Title Page. Mrs. Shaw was wife of Henry Shaw, U.S. Congressman from Massachusetts 1817-21. Brigg's son Henry Shaw Briggs, was named after him. (He was a Brig. General in U.S. Civil War). The relationship between these people including a memoir referencing this presentation copy from Mrs. Shaw is in "Great in Goodness: A Memoir of George N. Briggs" by William C.
